What to check
The agreed handover should identify processed periods, reconciliations completed, documents still needed and outstanding ledger questions. Reports depend on the scope and the reliability of the underlying records.
Guide
A useful summary tells you what is complete and what needs action.
The agreed handover should identify processed periods, reconciliations completed, documents still needed and outstanding ledger questions. Reports depend on the scope and the reliability of the underlying records.
Assign an owner and date to each unresolved question. A report is less useful if nobody knows whether it is complete or what to do next.
Illustrative format: Period completed; accounts reviewed; reconciliation status by account; documents outstanding; questions for the owner; matters for accountant review; next records deadline. State incomplete work explicitly. A summary should not imply that all accounts are finished when questions or evidence gaps remain.
For every unresolved item, include the date or reference, what evidence or decision is needed, who should provide it and the agreed next step. Keep sensitive records in the agreed document system rather than circulating them in a public example.
