Bank and card reconciliation

Understand what matches and what still needs checking.

Where we start

Confirm each bank and card account, opening position and latest statement. Find any gaps in feeds or imported records before matching transactions.

What needs care

Matching is supported by evidence. Duplicate imports, transfers and uncertain transactions need investigation rather than convenient guesses.

What the handover should contain

Expect a record of reconciled periods and exceptions needing your decision or accountant review.

What to have ready

Identify every bank and card account in scope, the period requiring work and the relevant statements. Tell us about disconnected feeds, duplicate imports or accounts added during the period. Complete statements help establish whether the records agree with the bank rather than relying only on the live feed.

What an unresolved difference means

A difference can arise from missing entries, duplicated transactions, transfers or a starting balance that needs investigation. The next step depends on the evidence. We identify unresolved items for the appropriate owner rather than creating an unexplained adjustment to force a match.

What the reconciliation handover shows

Agree the accounts and completed periods to be reported, the statement position used and any exceptions remaining. Questions needing your decision or accountant review are listed separately. This makes it clear which records are ready for the next stage and which still need attention.

How remote bookkeeping works

We support businesses in Cheltenham, Gloucester and Gloucestershire entirely remotely. Agree the scope with Antony by phone or email, provide records through the agreed online handover and grant named Xero access. Questions and handovers are handled remotely; no office visit or on-site appointment is needed or offered.
